Pack 565 meets at Sunny Slope School every Tuesday that school is in session.  The first meeting of the 2012-2013 school year is on Tuesday, August 21, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Some people who attended the Sunny Slope Safe Walk to School event received flyers with the incorrect date for this first meeting.  Please come on Tuesday night, and encourage others to come on Tuesday also.
On Tuesday, August 21, we will be welcoming families that are interested in joining Cub Scout Pack 565.  We will also be renewing memberships for current members of the pack.  We will have some fun activities.  And, perhaps most importantly, we will be getting fitted for Star Wars costumes for the Labor Day parade.

Pinewood Derby
Pinewood derby car kits were distributed at the November pack meeting.  One kit is provided free to each scout.  Additional kits will be available for purchase at den meetings through December 13.  Parents and siblings are encouraged to make a car to race in the open class at our pack’s pinewood derby in January.

Pack 565 will be having a pinewood derby car building clinic on Saturday, December 17, at Kevin Dolezal's garage.  Arrive anytime between 10 and 3.  Specialized tools will be available for your use, and expert help will be on-hand to help you build your car.
Cars must be constructed to conform to rules that are listed in the document that is attached below.

Our pack’s pinewood derby race will be held at Lord of Love Church, 10405 Fort Street, on Saturday, January 21, 2012.  Registration starts at 8:00.  Races start at 9:00.  The event will be finished by 1:00 or 2:00.  Lunch will be available for purchase at the event.

Members of Pack 565 will also be very involved in the Mid-America Pinewood Derby on April 28, 2012.  Please plan to enter your car in that race, and also volunteer to help staff that event.  This is an important fund raiser for our pack.
